The private Centred approach is broken down into three core conditions; Empathy, flat Positive Regard and Congruence. Empathy is a word that is bandied about kinda carelessly, in todays society people will say they are empathic quite freely without aspect at the actual deeper meaning of the word. In fact I did before this course, it was one of the qualities I would have listed proudly in a job interview situation. If asked before my studies I would have said empathy was feeling someone elses pain or understanding what they are going through.
